Our wedding reception service begins by going to any length required for you to feel completely confident and comfortable that you can trust Power Posse Productions. We want you to be looking forward to your experience with us in the months leading up to the wedding. This state of mind is achieved with: this package, phone conversations, and/or a personal meeting with Jerry, Phil, and/or myself.

Once someone decides they want us to handle their reception, a written contract guaranteeing our services and a fill-in-the blank guide to planning a wedding reception is mailed to you. This “reception planner” is a template of a typical reception and is a helpful guide in the process of planning the logistics of the day’s events.

The next step is a pre-event meeting two to four weeks in advance to discuss all your expectations, musical ideas, answer any questions, and visualize every detail of your reception. This way, the day of the celebration you can relax and enjoy the day, confident that we will deliver exactly what you envisioned. We take great pride in our ability to produce an experience for your guests that is truly customized and not just the same routine night after night.

The day of the event, we arrive early to introduce ourselves to your other professionals (caterer, photographer, etc...) and ensure a neat, discrete, and professional installation of our top-quality equipment. This installation process is completed before the first of your guests arrive.

Our equipment includes a surround sound system and intelligent light system. Most mobile DJ’s and bands use only two speaker stacks on either side of their station, blasting their sound into the crowd. With our six to seventeen speaker sound systems, we can evenly fill the space or even multiple rooms and outdoor patios with music that is just the right volume. Background music during cocktail hour and dinner is evenly, pleasantly delivered, with no loud spots.

Also, your guests can clearly understand the best man’s speech; but it’s never too loud. Some unique locations like Saltwater Farm, The Branford House, Harkness, Mystic Art Association, The Crocker House, Inn at Mystic, Latitude 41, Wadsworth Mansion, and Jonathan Edwards Winery require these additional speakers for different areas on different volume controls. This additional service, if required, is included in our flat fee approach. We design our sound around the space.

When it’s time for dancing, the speakers are adjusted to focus the music on the dance floor. This creates a “surround sound” environment that provides perfect sound levels for the people dancing; but is not too loud for the people who at that moment prefer to enjoy a conversation elsewhere in the space.

The lighting that we use is called intelligent lighting. Our sophisticated units cost six thousand dollars each and are the same ones you would see at a concert on TV or a major nightclub. The DJ’s assistant operating a laptop computer controls this lighting. Only two fixtures are required to produce an effect that adds to the diminutive equipment presence maintains the discrete and professional appearance that our clients appreciate. Yet, the lighting is powerful and versatile enough to enhance the party in unique ways like:

Projecting a romantic red glow on the ceiling above a slow dance, lighting the cake area during cutting, and matching the genre and mood of whatever music is playing through a multitude of “light shows” – all in a discrete and tasteful manner.

The music your guests enjoy is guided by three factors:

• Input from you. Some clients provide only a few general suggestions and others produce extensive lists of songs to play or not play. It is up to you.

• The day of the event, your guests are welcome to make requests. This is a wonderful way to adapt our music to the moods and desires of your friends and family on the spot.

• Our extensive experience reading the crowd and going with the musical flow of the party.

Our normal approach is to play a nice variety of music, within the guidelines detailed by our clients, presented in a way that makes sense and flows nicely. The songs blend together smoothly without awkward pauses and breaks for a continuous dancing experience with no “DJ voice” between songs. We also take great pride in producing events where everyone is dancing and having a fantastic time, but we avoid playing the top 25 most over-played “wedding” songs. The vast majority of our clients prefer this musical style.
